New c-bios logo

Remarks and suggestions are always welcome

New c-bios logo

Postby mars2000you » 18-Apr-2005 15:56

As the first thread is locked, I must open this new thread about the same subject (But why close so fast the thread  ???)

The result of the poll is clear, but I'm a little deceived to get no answer about this remark :

"btw, the background should also use the MSX2 "dark" blue color"

So, it should be interesting to know the opinion of the developers and of the c-bios users on this precise point ...

It should be lighter, we do not live in the restriction of the dark ages anymore.

I don't like closed discussions and it seems that I'm not the only one :

What about a tool to extract the current logo from the C-Bios rom and to replace it by your homemade logo ? Like an IPS patch maybe ???

There is no need to. For one thing, the next release will have the logo roms seperate from the other roms... a bit like Panasonic did with the GT configuration. And another thing is the source of that rom will be available as well so everyone can create their own C-BIOS logo.

Just be patient...

About your so called closed discussions: I asked people to send in their logos and ideas. The silence was overwellming. Besides everything on sf.net is opensource. Even more opensource than blueMSX is at this moment.

If you want to replace the logo why don't you just take the ROM where to logo is stored in and read up on the facts of C-BIOS.

C-BIOS isn't about the logo (which is really cool btw) it is about replacing the standard BIOS so emulation can be 100% legal.

Please keep this main focus in mind.

But we are always open for improvements :) So please post any new logo here which you think is better than the logo we have now. Please do it in such a manner that we can add it to c-bios it has to include the source that is compatible with C-BIOS. Make sure is has DFSG compliant license license.

I do think it's the dumbest reason to make IPS patches for different logos since the source is available anyway.

That is up to the designer. The designer used middle blue in the design. And with MSX2 and later it's not just the blue background... Try this:

SET TITLE ,2 and reset
SET TITLE ,3 and reset
SET TITLE ,4 and reset

and look! There are even more colors than just the default one.

COOL HUH!

BiFi : IPS patch was only a suggestion ... if the logo roms come apart in next version, then talented guys (and girls) can indeed create their own logo roms and I find this approach very good :D

I know of course the alternative boot colors of the MSX2 (and higher), but generally, eveybody prefers the blue version .... and we all prefer the MSX blue boot screen than the infamous PC blue trouble screen (especially on 95/98 )

Vampier : I was also deceived by the non-interest to the C-BIOS logo poll.
Finally, after 3 months, come alternative ideas on the MSXPOSSE forum ... That's why I've related them here.
Of course, the logo is not the most important thing for the goal to reach (a legal bios), but it can contribute to make wider the C-BIOS 'audience'.
